These substantial 100g chunky skeins of blended Corriedale and Merino wool are hand-spun and hand-dyed by a women’s co-operative in Uruguay. The colours created in the dying process are amazing - both in the slightly variegated single colour skeins and the more dramatic ‘space dyed’ mixes.
Manos del Uruguay was created in 1968 to help women in rural Uruguay to generate an income. The not-for-profit organisation is now a full member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and is fully committed to sustainable economic development by pioneering social and environmental policies and continual reinvestment in the producer communities.
