Make a Quilt - Patchwork for Beginners
Sorry, currently out of stock
Maximum Class Size: 5 (reduced due to social distancing measures)
Level: This class is designed for beginners learning how to quilt, but open to all abilities should you just want to come and refresh your patchwork and quilting knowledge! You will need to be reasonably confident with a sewing machine to attend this class.
During this full day session you will have the opportunity to complete a small and simple block quilt, approximately 1.1m x 1.1m. The workshop will start with half an hour of flicking through inspiring books to help to design your block. You will then be guided through all the stages of quilt making, from patchwork piecing, quilting layers together to neat binding and finishing.
We will also give you a short demonstration on hand quilting so that you have the choice of stitching into your quilt to give it a more traditional and textured look when you get home. In one day you will create your own unique quilt and take away the skills and techniques that you can use over and over again.
Materials: You will need to bring a selection of fabrics for the quilt top, in total a surface area of 1.1m x 1.1m and one piece measuring 1.1m for the back of the quilt. You will also need 5m of bias binding.
Quilt wadding and threads are included.
Please bring with you: A sewing machine and scissors will be allocated to you. We also recommend you either bring with you, or purchase from Ray Stitch, small tools such as pins, a tape measure, unpicker, needles, and thread snips.
Booking the class entitles you to a 10% discount in the Ray Stitch shop for one week from the date of your class.
