Maximum Class Size: 8

Open to all levels. Perfect for complete beginners or experienced stitchers looking to learn creative mending techniques.

Transform holes and marks on your clothing into beautiful patchwork details using English paper piecing techniques. In this creative workshop, Shelley Zetuni from Sewing Smith will guide you through her unique approach to visible mending, using fabric scraps and traditional hand-piecing methods to repair and embellish your clothes.

This slow sewing 3 hour class focuses on building considered, patchworked repairs through technique, colour, placement, and balance. Working with hexagon shapes, you'll upskill your hand sewing while learning how to create intentional, graphic repairs that celebrate rather than hide the history of your garments. Whether you're covering damage or simply adding decoration to make a favourite item uniquely yours, this is mending as creative expression.

Please note: This class works best on cotton garments. It is not suitable for knitwear or clothing with significant stretch.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

Cancellation Policy

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible by email. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the class starts, we may not be able to admit you as this can disrupt the learning experience for other students.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

Age Policy for Classes

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.

If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
