Open to all levels.

Join renowned textile artist Richard McVetis for a meditative day of stitch, texture, and creative mark-making. This workshop invites you to explore embroidery as a quiet, expressive practice, focusing on the slowness, rhythm, and possibilities of hand stitching.

You’ll experiment with traditional stitches, adjusting scale, thread, and spacing to create unique textures and patterns. Through guided exercises and discussion, you’ll learn to use embroidery as a tool for drawing, reflection, and creative play.

Whether you're new to hand stitching or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers space to pause, connect, and re-energise your creativity.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

    Skills You'll Gain

    • Using stitch as a method of drawing and mark-making
    • Exploring texture, scale, and repetition through embroidery
    • Translating ideas and inspiration into stitch
    • Developing a mindful approach to making
    • Examples of Richard’s work, artist references, and book suggestions

    Cancellation Policy

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible by email. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the class starts, we may not be able to admit you as this can disrupt the learning experience for other students.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

    Age Policy for Classes

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.

If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
