Product details

Maximum Class Size: 6

Level 2: Beginner Plus – basic sewing machine skills required.

Join modern quilter and collage artist Sarah Hibbert for a joyful day of hand quilting and fabric piecing, guided by intuition, colour, and texture. Working from a log cabin-inspired block, you’ll explore creative patchwork techniques, piecing your fabrics with intention, letting materials lead the way, and building a block around 10" square.

Experiment with wider pieces to show off your quilting, or work with narrow strips to explore colour and rhythm. Once your blocks are complete, Sarah will demonstrate hand quilting and finishing techniques, including both simple and face binding. Expect a relaxed, inspiring day full of colour, conversation, and creative stitching.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

Skills You'll Gain

  • Piecing a log cabin-style patchwork block
  • Playing with fabric placement, colour, and scale
  • Approaches to hand quilting for texture and definition
  • Binding and finishing techniques

Cancellation Policy

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible by email. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the class starts, we may not be able to admit you as this can disrupt the learning experience for other students.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

Age Policy for Classes

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.

If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
