Intermediate Garment Making Skills A
Maximum Class Size: 6 Students
Class Level: This class can follow on from our Essential Skills class or any Level 2 class and is suitable for those who are beginning to make their own garments and would like to refine their skills. Intermediate Garment Making Skills A and B are partner classes and can be taken in any order.
Through a series of samples made in calico, you will learn a number of useful dressmaking techniques and finishes that you will encounter on your garment making journey, helping you to progress with confidence.
This class will cover:
- Lapped zip
- Neckline
- Contour dart
- French seam
- Flat felled seam
- Closed seam with edgestitch and footstitch (like denim)
- Piped seam
- If there is time we will demonstrate how to use a one step buttonhole function on our Janome machines. This process can vary between makes and models of sewing machine; yours may use a different function.
All materials and notions are supplied. A sewing machine and scissors will be allocated to you. Please let us know in advance if you would like to bring your own machine.
