Notches - Kai - Kid's Jumpsuit + Trousers + Pinafore

This is a paper sewing pattern for the Kai, a versatile genderfree sewing pattern that can be used to make a playsuit, pinafore dress, trousers or shorts.  

Kai has been created with a modular sensibility, see below for some of the ways you can play with this pattern: 

• Make the jumpsuit with a ruffle for a sweet outfit, or leave out the ruffle and you have playful dungarees. 
• For the shoulder straps, you can choose between stretchy straps or straps with buttons and buttonholes. With both options, dressing and undressing is very easy. 
• The pattern gives you the option to make just the trouser part. And by adjusting the length you get a nice pair of shorts.
• If your little child likes flowy dresses, just make the bodice with a skirt part and you have a wonderfully loose pinafore. Because the pinafore is a version of the dungarees, the armholes are the same depth and are meant to be worn over a T-shirt or sweater. Although it is also a great high summer dress without anything underneath.
• As well as pockets in the side seam you can choose to add patch pockets.
