Product details
Maximum Class Size: 8
Open to all: No sewing experience necessary. Perfect for complete beginners or experienced stitchers looking to learn decorative mending techniques.
Bring your worn denim or workwear that needs fixing and learn how to use Sashiko-inspired stitching to patch your clothes and bring new life to old garments. In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, Shelley Zetuni from Sewing Smith will guide you through traditional Japanese mending techniques adapted for modern visible repair.
This 3 hour workshop will explore Sashiko-inspired stitching as a method for strengthening and marking cloth. Using dissolvable fabric printed with Sashiko motifs, from simple running stitches to more complex patterns, you'll learn how to reinforce worn-out denim with patches and fabric scraps, creating repairs that are both decorative and durable.
Perfect for lengthening the life of your favourite jeans or fixing second-hand treasures. Leave with repaired garments and the skills to continue mending at home.
Please note: This technique works best on 100% cotton denim or denim with minimal stretch. Jeggings or denim with high lycra content are not suitable for this method.
Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.
