Join renowned textile artist Richard McVetis for a meditative day of stitch, texture, and creative mark-making. This workshop invites you to explore embroidery as a quiet, expressive practice—focusing on the slowness, rhythm, and possibilities of hand stitching.
You’ll experiment with traditional stitches, adjusting scale, thread, and spacing to create unique textures and patterns. Through guided exercises and discussion, you’ll learn to use embroidery as a tool for drawing, reflection, and creative play.
Whether you're new to hand stitching or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers space to pause, connect, and re-energise your creativity.

About the Artist:
Richard McVetis is a British artist known for his intricate hand embroidery and exploration of time, repetition, and process. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, his work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Loewe Craft Prize, The British Textile Biennial, and The Design Museum in London. He is also a visiting lecturer in Textiles at the Royal College of Art.
Refreshments: Hot drinks, cold drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day. There will be a break for lunch during which time you are welcome to bring in and eat a packed lunch in the workshop or have a wander and buy food from various places nearby.

Unfortunately, our classes are non-refundable. Due to small class sizes, transferring to a different date is difficult. If you notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, we may be able to offer an alternative date, but this is not guaranteed—please give as much notice as possible.
In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.
