Product details
Maximum Class Size: 6
Level: Improver - For confident machine stitchers.
Learn how to create crisp, precise patchwork blocks using the foundation paper piecing method in this one-day workshop with textile artist Catherine-Marie Longtin. This workshop aims to help you achieve precision with tricky fabrics and is perfect for intuitive quilters who prefer a creative flow over rigid precision. Although this technique may sound complicated, it actually simplifies the process, particularly when dealing with demanding materials like silk or linen.
Catherine-Marie will guide you through the fundamentals of foundation paper piecing using two of her signature patterns: Concentric Square and Tile Variation. You’ll make a sample of each block and explore ways to expand them into a quilt or mount them as finished textile artworks.
This is a calm, focused class for anyone looking to develop accuracy and explore new ways of working with fabric and shape.
Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

About Your Teacher
Catherine-Marie Longtin is a French-Canadian quilt-maker and textile artist based in South East London. Cancellation Policy
Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.
If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible by email. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the class starts, we may not be able to admit you as this can disrupt the learning experience for other students.
In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.
Age Policy for Classes
At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.
Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.
If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
