Product details

Maximum Class Size: 5

Level 4: Intermediate. Suitable for proficient machine stitchers with experience using sewing patterns.

Learn how to adjust commercial dressmaking patterns to achieve a better fit for your body shape in this comprehensive one-day workshop.

Working with a fitted bodice pattern as your base, you'll focus on refining bodice fit, customising necklines, and shaping sleeves. The gathered skirt element provides flexibility, allowing you to concentrate on mastering bodice alterations.

This class is ideal if you frequently encounter fit issues such as narrow shoulders, tight armholes, or gaping necklines. As this is a skills-based workshop, you'll create a toile and leave with a fully adjusted pattern, ready to cut and sew in your chosen fabric. These invaluable techniques will transform how you approach every future sewing project.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

    Skills You'll Gain

    • Adjusting the neckline shape and creating new facings
    • Shortening or lengthening sleeves and skirt
    • Moving darts for a better fit
    • Adjusting bodice length
    • Constructing a toile
    • Transferring alterations to your pattern

All tools and materials are provided.

    Cancellation Policy

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

    Age Policy for Classes

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.

If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
