Maximum Class Size: 6
Level: Suitable for confident machine stitchers.
Join renowned quilter Sarah Hibbert for a peaceful day of slow stitching and hand quilting, creating beautiful quilted zip pouches that make perfect personalised gifts.
Escape the rush of everyday life and immerse yourself in the meditative art of hand quilting. In this calming workshop, you'll piece and machine stitch two panels before settling into the rhythmic, soothing process of hand quilting. Your finished quilted panels will then be transformed into practical zip-top pouches. Small, achievable projects that showcase your own unique stitching style.
This is the perfect opportunity to create thoughtful handmade gifts whilst learning traditional techniques in a quiet, supportive environment. You'll leave with beautiful examples of your own work and the skills to continue this rewarding practice at home, with the confidence to tackle bigger quilting pieces using the same techniques.
What You'll Learn:
- Piecing and machine stitching quilt panels
- Hand quilting techniques and stitches
- Creating even, consistent quilting lines
- Finishing quilted panels professionally
- Constructing zip-top pouches
- Binding and edge finishing
- Combining machine and hand stitching methods
Materials: All tools and materials are provided. Sarah loves working with our washed and herringbone linen for its tactile quality, and a range of plain linen fabrics will be available in class. You’re also welcome to bring your own fabric scraps.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.
Age Policy for Classes
At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.
Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.
If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
