Maximum Class Size: 6

Level 2 - Beginner Plus: For students who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to start learning core garment construction techniques. You must have completed Part 1 or an equivalent beginners sewing class before attending this session. Confident with threading a sewing machine and completed a few basic projects.

The perfect class for stitchers ready to tackle their first zipped project. This 3-hour workshop is an ideal stepping stone between our Beginners All Day class and the Intro to Garment Making course, helping you build confidence with more detailed techniques.

You'll create a beautifully lined zip-top pouch, choosing between a smaller flat pouch or a larger flat-base version, depending on your needs. Learn essential techniques including zip insertion and achieving professional corners - skills that will serve you well in future garment making.

These versatile pouches are ideal for organising handbag essentials, storing craft supplies, or creating thoughtful handmade gifts. Take home your finished pouch plus patterns for both sizes to continue making more at home.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

Skills You'll Gain

  • Installing a zip with confidence
  • Creating a fully lined pouch with clean finishes
  • Cutting and preparing lining fabrics
  • Achieving neat, professional corners
  • Understanding seam placement for zip insertion
  • Working with different pouch construction methods

Cancellation Policy

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

Age Policy for Classes

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.

If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
