Maximum Class Size: 6
Level 2 - Beginner Plus: For students who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to start learning core garment construction techniques. You must have completed Part 1 or an equivalent beginners sewing class before attending this session.
A great next step for those who've mastered the basics. In this practical workshop, you'll make a classic pair of unisex pyjama bottoms with an elasticated waistband and drawstring, developing key garment construction skills and building confidence with commercial sewing patterns.
You'll leave with a comfortable, wearable pair of pyjamas and the skills to make more at home. Choose cosy flannel for winter or crisp cotton for warmer months from our carefully curated fabric selection.
Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.
Skills You'll Gain
- Reading and understanding commercial sewing patterns
- Adjusting patterns for fit
- Pattern layout and understanding grainlines
- Marking up fabric
- Constructing an elasticated waistband with drawstring
- Accurate sewing and neat finishing techniques

The pattern is included, but you'll need to bring your own fabric. We recommend a stable woven fabric such as our printed cotton poplin, soft cotton plains, brushed cotton flannel, or cotton lawn.

Cancellation Policy
Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.
In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.
Age Policy for Classes
At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.
Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.
If you're planning to book for a young person, we recommend emailing us first so we can help guide you to the most suitable class for their age and experience level.
