Product details

Sewing the Curve is Jenny Rushmore's second sewing book to empower curvy and plus size women to feel body confident by sewing a wardrobe that fits.

Learning to sew your own clothes can be utterly life changing. Forget squeezing into ill-fitting garments which aren’t to your taste, or struggling to find anything in your size—once you can sew, you can make a whole closet of clothes, in any style or fabric, to fit your body.

But learning to sew can be intimidating if you’ve never picked up a needle, and even more so if you’re not in the size range of a lot of beginner patterns or sewing books. Having to learn sewing skills AND learn how to make patterns bigger can be overwhelming, and if you’re coming to sewing to help you feel better about your body, it can even end up making you feel worse.

Sewing the Curve will teach you how to sew a closet of gorgeous garments. Beginner-friendly, this book will take you from threading your machine to completing your first garment that fits and expresses your personal style. And, it comes with 6 patterns in sizes 12–32 and cup sizes C–H, so you can practice and master new skills on patterns made for bodies just like yours.

PATTERN DETAILS

The patterns come as printed patterns in an envelope at the back of the book. They are printed double sided and should be traced before use. The patterns are also available as digital downloads (in print-at-home and copyshop file versions, which work as project files), using a download code contained in the book.

MONTVALE DRESS & TUNIC

This swingy, breezy woven dress and tunic comes with sleeveless and drop-sleeved options, and has side-seam pockets. The drop-sleeved tunic is the ideal first garment to make!

RANDOLPH SKIRT

A chic wrap skirt in midi or knee length, the Randolph can be made for any season depending on the fabric you use.

EUSTIS TOP

The Eustis is a curve-friendly t-shirt with elevated options! Make your Eustis with a puffy gathered sleeve and elasticated wrists, or create a more classic look with the straight sleeve in short or long lengths.

ARDLEY PANTS

These elasticated-waist pants with straight legs and a drawstring are so versatile: use fun jersey for PJs or heavier fabrics such as ponte or French terry for a trendy athleisure look. Plus, there’s the option of roomy pockets.

FAIRFAX JACKET

Finally, a quilted jacket designed for bigger boobs! The Fairfax can be made out of pre-quilted fabric, but I’ll also teach you how to quilt your own, along with how to finish the patch pockets and curved edges with gorgeous contrast binding.

ELMLEY DRESS

Showcase your new sewing skills with the Elmley, a sophisticated sheath dress with sleeveless or flutter sleeve variations and a full lining. Make the dress of your dreams for the office—or even your next evening event.
